This past month I have been introduced to a world that I never before knew existed – the world of charity auctions. I’ve seen everything from fast-talking, cowboy-boot wearing auctioneers to nervous high-school choristers singing to a room full of tuxes. And the events themselves have raised anywhere from $20,000 to $500,000.

A few from the ceremonial start of the 2010 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. My experience this year was cut short by a little problem with some red tape, but I still managed to have fun and make a few pictures that I am happy with.

This month Alaska Magazine picked up one of my photos of kite-skiers on Portage Lake. There’s something truly wonderful about launching off of a completely flat surface and flying 20+ feet in the air. Maybe this season I’ll get off the ground too. They were taken last valentine’s day.
